Engineers told to take inspiration from Visvesvaraya’s life

Engineer’s Day was celebrated with much pomp and splendour at Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV),
here on Sunday. The Institution of Engineers India (IEI), Tirupati along with SPMVV organised the 46th Engineers’
Day to commemorate the 153rd birthday of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya.
The programme began with the invitees garlanding the statue of Visvesvaraya on the varsity premises. IEI chairman
M. Devendranath Reddy presided over the event and praised the works done by Visvesvaraya. He urged the present
day engineers to work towards the development of non-conventional sources of energy like solar power.
Former chairman and managing director of APSPDCL K. Vidyasagar Reddy delivered a lecture on ‘Frugal Engineering
– Achieving more with Fewer Resources’.
